Of Pirates, Biscuits, and Things To Look Forward To.

 

Happy new year, dear readers. Wherever your time zone, the countdown is upon us.

I spent the last day of 2008 buying furniture at Ikea. The balloon in the picture above was given to me by a pirate who was there to entertain the children. The exchange went something like this:

Me: "Are you Swedish?" 

*English speaking, British-accent harbouring Pirate looks at me quizzically*

Me: "Well, if you're an Ikea pirate then you ought to be a Swedish pirate."

*Pirate cottons on*

Pirate: "Oh I am Swedish, and I'm speaking Swedish now, so it's actually quite amazing you can understand me. You're a funny one; I'm going to make you a heart........*pause*........because nobody loves you." *Chuckles* 

*Pirate hands me the balloon*

Me: "They do now."

Pirate, *still chuckling*: "I guess you're right."

   

While waiting for my furniture to be ready, we snacked on some pretty indulgent looking biscuits. I have my suspicions that these are the ones Mr. Bini had somewhat of an obsession over not long ago, but this remains to be confirmed. They were pretty tasty.

What does 2009 have in store for me?

Well to begin with, the first day will be spent packing, packing, packing. Unfortunately the mess you see to the left is only one corner of my room. But I can justify it because there are actually 4 full plastic crates of stuff underneath that all. So I'm getting there...slowly.

And one week into the year, Mr. Bini is arriving in Perth and we're moving into our new house! Exciting times. We're going to settle in for a while, but also have plans for the summer: to see some concerts, go to the ballet and take a hot air balloon ride (the second two of which he gets muchos credit for agreeing to do!). Can't wait!
